If someone told me just a year ago that I would be “cleaning” or “snatching” I would have looked at you like a crazy man. For one, I wouldn’t have had a clue what the heck you were saying and two, I didn’t do much weightlifting. Today, that is all I talk about. When I graduated college in 2007 I weighed 250 lbs and was not active at all. I quickly realized that I needed to get myself in shape and I began working out at your typical gym. I then took up running which was fun and great for stress relief but that also go a little boring and monotonous. My fraternity brother kept posting about Crossfit on Facebook and so I inquired about it. I began Crossfit at KP in September 2012 and I was instantly hooked!

I loved knowing that the workouts would be different every time I went. I also loved the idea of having a coach watching me for an hour helping me with different movements. When I started I was WEAK!! No upper body strength what so ever. I couldn’t hang from a bar for more than 3 seconds. After some time passed I began noticing myself getting a little stronger each day. I then changed my diet and started eating paleo. My life changed tremendously. I started seeing my times getting better and I was even, at times, getting the best score. For the first time ever in my life I became a competitive athlete and it felt great! I get up at 4:45 am every day to workout and love the results I am seeing.

KP has the best community I have ever been part of. My family lives 14 hours away and I love that I can call my workout buddies my KP family. The support you get from the staff is beyond any I have every seen. Our coaches are amazing! There is nothing like wanting to quit in the middle of a workout and hearing your KP family in your ear screaming “you can do it!” and “Great job!”

I am now the healthiest I have ever been in my life weighing in at 185lbs. I have received many emails and phone calls from people telling me how I have inspired them to get healthy. I love that I can be that inspiration for people. My goal is to continue to improve and get stronger and to continue to inspire and motivate others to do the same. After all, that is what KP has done for me so why not pay it forward!
